A Distant Christmas: Rehearsing in 2020

Rehearsing in 2020 is different. How will the show be staged? How do we perform without touching? Another cast member in isolation…again?! Usually, the path to performance is a long and straight one, however not in the age of Coronavirus. The uphill hike to performance is uncertain and daunting for all creative teams at the moment. With that said, there are still many aspects of working on a production that remain the same, despite the obstacles. As undergraduate Drama students in our graduating year, we are expected to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism. Learning our lines, working with the director on character development and with the professional production team to bring the story to life through costume and technical effects are all still par for the course. We knew, going into this rehearsal process, that there would be obvious minor barriers such as wearing masks and socially distancing for all cast and crew in a studio space. These seem like small and obvious points but, as performers, we did not initially think about how these challenges would affect the production, especially in the rehearsal stages. Aakash Odedra 2 Live Performance Moves Online!

In response to new national lockdown restrictions which are due to come into force on Thursday 5 November, the performance by Aakash Odedra 2, which was scheduled for Saturday 7 November on the University of Lincoln campus outside LPAC has now been moved online. Whether you’re a LSFPA student thinking of joining Aakash Odedra 2 or simply want to enjoy some much-needed art in your lockdown life then now is your chance to see the style of work the company creates and performs. Aakash Odedra 2 will be auditioning for dancers from the @UniLincolnLSFPA to form the new cohort of this pre-professional graduate dance company. With lockdown well under way the outdoor performances planned @universityoflincoln will now go online. On Fri 6 November, 5.30pm the company will be premiering this new work. Fire & Light Trail Postponed to January 2021

Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC)’s Fire & Light Trail Postponed In response to new national restrictions, which come into effect on Thursday 5 November, LPAC’s sell-out event Fire & Light Trail, which was warmly anticipated by Lincoln locals has been postponed to the new year. The socially-distanced outdoor event, which was due to take place on Friday 6th November – just one day after the lockdown comes into place – was set to be the venue’s first public and non-digital event since it was forced to close its doors in March. The Fire & Light Trail is a pop-up outdoor exhibition that weaves its way through illuminated parkland in the centre of Lincoln. Lit by coloured stage lights, Lincoln Arboretum will serve as a backdrop to a stunning Fire Garden, comprised of Fire Stacks, Fire Sculptures, Fire Cans and lanterns, enhanced by pyrotechnics, fire juggling and a mobile forge – the Fire & Light Trail is a unique kinetic experience of heat and light.
