The Fun Palace Trail

The Lincoln Fun Palace Trail will be taking places across 6 venues. At each venue there will be a question to answer and a prize for everyone who answers all the questions correctly.

Usher Gallery (Education Room)
11:00 – 14:00 Colourly Creatives Messy Art Experiment (3 hour drop in session) aims to bring accessible art workshops to children of all ages in the Lincoln area. Come and join their large scale messy arty experiment, there will be paint filled pendulums and fizzy art. Incredibly simple, ridiculously fun and easy to recreate at home!

Join local Theatre Makers for an hour of play and creativity as we share stories through drama workshops and mini-performances.

10:30 – 12:30: Bridge Building Can you make a bridge using just lego or paper and bull dog clips? (Zing Cafe)

11:00 – 11:30 – Laughter Yoga (LPAC Dome)
The Laughter yoga sessions start with gentle warm-up techniques which include stretching and clapping. Then follows by a series of ‘laughter exercises’ that combine the method of acting and visualisation techniques with playfulness. Twenty minutes of laughter is sufficient to develop fully physiological benefits.

11am – 12noon How to Make a Spanish Guitar (Studio 2 )
Do you know how a guitar is made? How do you learn the knowledge and skills to make a guitar? Where do you start? This session will show you how an acoustic guitar is made and discuss the different ways people teach and learn the craft of guitar-making.

11:30 – 12:00 Dance Show/ Workshop – Lincoln University Dance Society (Studio 1)

11:40 – 12:00 (Ages 3-6) (LPAC Dome) Aliens in Underpants Save the World workshop with Duck Egg Theatre (LPAC Dome)
A meteor is heading towards earth, set collide in less than a day. Come to one of our workshops and help these brave aliens as they work to save planet earth- one pair of underpants at a time!

11:30- 13:30 Nest nursery dream Catcher workshop (On grass behind POPOUT Dome)
The Nest Nursery and Pre-school will be helping you make Willow dream catchers and wool wrapped sticks and sticks which can become magic wands/wishing sticks.

Come along and meet Dr Frankenstein, find out where the experiment all went wrong. What truly happened that fateful night? in this Mary Shelley inspired workshop. (LPAC’s blow up tent)

A drama workshop for ages (ages 5 -10) that will look at the solar system, our planet and what it takes to look after it!

12:30 – 14:30 Pirate Innovation Workshop (12+) (Studio 1)
There are storms a’brewing!! Climate change, Political unrest, fake news! Surely this is all TOO big for us to tackle alone. How, will we all survive? Take part in a unique workshop experience that will have you start your own pirate crew to navigate the stormy seas of change. Maybe by working together we can all come out of this intact. Are you an IDEA PIRATE? Come along and find out!

13:30 – 14:00 Snirenissen: Time Travel Opera with Richard Knight (Zing Cafe)
Snirenissen is a time-travel fantasy that imagines a cut-up, trance-like vision of Sleaford, Lincs. peopled with a disconsolate Dick Turpin, Issac Newton and a High Priestess caught up in an authoritarian takeover.

14:30 – 16:00 Beevor Brass Band performance and ‘have a go session’ (LPAC Theatre)
Lincoln Beevor Brass Band is a registered charity community brass band welcoming new as well as established players of all ages. Come and listen to us play and you can even have a go during our workshop session at the end of our performance.

• Paper folding- make a box or a flower out of paper
• RSPB- find out about our local wildlife and how you can help.

12:00-16:00: Poems made from words from the bin: Slow GIF movement x Frequency festival Join award-winning artist, Rhiannon Armstrong at Lincoln’s fun palace to write and create your own Slow GIF poem made from words that people threw away.
Your GIFs will also be added to the giphy keyboard so you can send and share them with your friends and family.

Mansions of the Future

11:00 – 15:00 Join Making Up Your Street for a free day of craft, design and making. Laura and Kathleen have their design skills as well as a myriad of craft machinery and tools on hand to help you make a bespoke project of your choosing. Perhaps you want a gift for a loved one, or a unique item for your home, come along and try your hand at making it yourself! DROP IN SESSION on a first come first serve basis. (All ages and abilities are welcome)

12:00 – 13:00 Knitting and crochet workshop
Come and join us (The Lincoln Branch of the Knitting and Crochet Guild) as we introduce you to a grannie square. They will provide you with some hooks and yarn, instructions and samples and help you to learn a bit of Crocheting.

1:00 – 16:00 Drop in session, come and knit the planets with the Fabric Corner & Craftea Café!

12:00 – 14:00 Pavement Chalk – Come and express what science means to you with some chalk art! (on the pavement outside the car park on Melville Street)

Fishtank Open sessions
Come and experience the joy of Fishtank Youth Theatre. Lincoln Drill Hall has run youth theatre groups on a Saturday for fifteen years under the expert leadership of Alice Kinloch. Kids from toddlers to 18 take part in fun weekly sessions, produce their own shows in the auditorium and make lots of new friends. Come and see the sessions taking place. You never know, you might even have the chance to join in!

11:00 – 14:00 Saturday sessions. Every Saturday Lincoln Drill Hall offers customers free music in the café bar. Our curated year round programme of performers play everything from early music to folk and blues to contemporary covers. Today two very different folk acts will be performing. Grab a cuppa, take a seat and enjoy the music.
