When two parents struggle to relate to their youngest son, Isaac, they create INKA for him. INKA is the human companion, without the human commitment. She is the upgrade from the devices that you are already familiar with. INKA can build relationships, playback memories and share human emotion. Using a combination of physical theatre, multimedia and original music, INKA is a show that explores how technological advancements can help or hinder a person, a relationship and a family. But with INKA constantly developing at a rapid speed, should she be kept private, or should she join our world in mass production? BeautifuL is a new dance theatre work directed by the award-winning Sally Marie, Artistic Director of Sweetshop Revolution. ‘BeautifuL’ encompasses movement and text, exploring love and sexuality from the female point of view; what is fantasised about, desired and permissible within the complex web of social structures, expectations and cultural history. Five extraordinary female dancers lead us through their own experiences of sexuality and love, contrasted with an exploration of the history of women’s sexuality over time.

We live in a time of gender fluidity, polyamory and moving away from the idea of a fixed identity or stereotype. Taking the autobiography of each woman and embedding it into the global – ‘BeautifuL’ will celebrate the solidarity of women, by taking femininity to a more deeply truthful place – past the gloss of media spin and pressure to conform. Essentially, ‘BeautifuL’ is a doorway into a dialogue about how women and men are experiencing relationships, sexuality and the body right now. At the heart of it lies a question: how do we love and how has it changed?
