Lincoln College Inspired by a true story and based on the film Made in Dagenham is a musical comedy about friendship, love and the importance about fighting for what is right. It’s 1968 in Essex and just like millions of other working women, Rita O’Grady is getting her husband and children off to work and school and trying to get to the factory on time herself. But life is about to change when it is announced that the girls in the stitching room of Ford’s Dagenham car plant will have their pay grade dropped to ‘unskilled’. Quickly drawing on a strength she never knew she had, Rita leads her friends in a battle against the might of Ford and the corruption of the Union supposed to protect them. As the girls’ inspiring journey gets bigger than anyone could have imagined, the pressure is too much for some, but can Rita keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for? An evening celebrating the very best of musical theatre, as local performers sing their favourite West End and Broadway hits! This showcase will be hosted by University of Lincoln alumnus, Mark McCredie, who played Judas in the 2015 Lincoln Cathedral production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Mark recently secured a place at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and this event is a fundraiser to help raise money towards the £17,000 needed to study his masters at one of the leading drama schools in the UK.
